Man arrested for Burglary of Aurora Rural Fire District #2 Building

On February 15th, Trooper Travis Hilburn recovered a stolen 4 wheeler on VV Hwy at the residence of Dennis Schmidt. Troopers knocked on Dennis Schmidt’s door with no answer; they could tell that someone was in the residence and at that time they secured the scene while Barry County Detective Doug Henry applied for a search warrant for the residence.  After the search warrant was obtained, Sheriff Mick Epperly, Chief Deputy Leonard Collins and Detective Doug Henry went to the Schmidt residence to serve the search warrant, they were assisted by Missouri State Highway Patrol and SW Missouri Drug Task Force.  Officers entered the residence and located 1 male subject—42 year old Dennis Martin Schmidt and 1 female subject – 31 year old Jennie Marie Boyd.  Both subjects were taken into custody without incident.  During the sweep of the residence, drugs were located in plain sight.  Schmidt consented to a search of the residence where drugs were found along with numerous fire department items.  Some of the items were marked with Aurora Rural Fire Dist #2.  Later officers found that the Aurora Rural Fire Dist #2 building located in Madry had been burglarized but had not been reported yet.  At time of this press release, Dennis Schmidt has been charged with Felony Burglary and Stealing, bond has been set at $50,000.00 cash only, he also has a parole violation warrant with no bond, and a warrant for Driving While suspended with bond of $2,500.00.  The items were recovered and will be returned back to the Aurora Fire Department.  The female subject Jennie Boyd has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with bond set at $15,000 cash only.
