Monett woman jailed on burglary, elderly abuse

A 35 year old woman from Monett was jailed after allegedly breaking into a rural Purdy home in January and assaulting the elderly woman inside.
Bernice White, 35, of Monett, is charged with one count of felony burglary in the first degree, one count of misdemeanor abuse of an elderly person, and one count of misdemeanor assault in the fourth degree.
According to affidavits of probable cause, White went into a residence on a private road in Purdy on January 21. White allegedly went in unwelcome and unannounced and began assaulting a victim inside the home.
White allegedly paused one victim into a wall while cussing. Officers reported White attempted to kick one victim and hit another by mistake.
Then, White allegedly shoved a 77 year old victim into a table, causing pain in her right arm and shoulder.
White was taken into custody and booked into the Barry County Jail on Sunday, March 17. The arrest warrant was issued on February 5.
White is currently being held in lieu of a $30,000 cash-only bond.
