Barry County Man charged with Promoting Child Pornography

A Barry County man, Russell L. Motes, 38 of Monett was charged on 03-05-2010 with Promoting Child Pornography in the 1s/t Degree and Possession of Child Pornography in Barry County, MO.

 

The case was initiated and investigated through the Cassville Police Department and the Barry County Sheriff’s Department, by Detectives, James Smith and Brain Martin, members of the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force. Assisting the Task Force with the case were members of the Monett Police Department.

 

A state search warrant was obtained and executed by the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force at the Motes residence during which a collection of child pornography was located on the suspect’s computer.

 

The Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force is hosted by the Joplin Police Department and has officers assigned from the Barry, Jasper, McDonald, Newton, Dade, Barton, and Vernon County Sheriff’s Offices, and the Cassville, Joplin and Nevada Police Departments.  The Task Force is funded through a grant administered by the Missouri Department of Public Safey
